Grilled pineapple is the absolute easiest summertime dessert.

There’s no better way to spend a summer weekend than by hosting your friends and family at the tastiest cookout in your own backyard. Basking in the sunshine, sipping on refreshing drinks, everyone’s favorite tunes playing on the speakers, and wafts of smoky, meaty smells coming from the grill all come together to make the most relaxed, happy afternoon.

Quick and Easy Dishes to Feed a Crowd at Your Summer Cookouts (Slideshow)

However, hosting a summer cookout is often a whole lot more stressful than you imagined it would be when you set about inviting everyone you know. When you’ve got a hungry crowd descending on your home, it can be hard to know what to cook that won’t require you to spend the whole week leading up to the cookout prepping in the kitchen. We have gathered our favorite simple, fuss-free, flavor-packed summer grilling recipes that will save you from any pre-party stress and panic.

Summer party drinks should always be made and served in big batches so that you don’t have to spend the whole party playing bartender, shaking up and serving individual drinks. And if you don’t even want to make a pitcher of sangria, then just fill a cooler with wine, beers, and sodas — as long as there’s something cold to drink, your guests will be happy. Similarly, food doesn’t need to be complicated or require you to be sweating over the grill all day. Simple side dishes that take less than 30 minutes to prepare are your summer cookout’s best friend, and chicken drumsticks, kabobs, and corn are the tastiest, fuss-free dishes to cook on the grill.

This collection of recipes will cover you for every summer cookout you’re hosting. We have included ideas for all types of guests, whether they’re gluten-free vegans, picky kids, or ever-hungry grown-ups. Read on to see the recipes that will make hosting your busy summer party a total breeze.

A Reason to Celebrate in Summer 2020

2020 has been hard on us in so many ways. I mean, so many. The fear and anxiety, the last-minute homeschooling, having kids home all-day-every-day for weeks and months, like the perpetual summer. A house in total disarray because no one ever leaves. And not to mention, the isolation. I’ve struggled with all of the above, but the isolation has been one of the hardest aspects of this year.

However, things are looking brighter as states are opening up, and my guess is that you are seeing some BBQs, cookouts, and get-togethers this summer.

Without a doubt, this is a cause for celebration.

Enter the summer cookout desserts.

*** If you are still being a little extra cautious, take a look over here where you can serve individual, single-serving dessert dishes , so there’s no extra touching and mixing!

Thumbs Up for a Dessert Splurge

If you’ve been on my blog at all, you know I really really try to push a healthy lifestyle. Healthy eating is possible and delicious and my go-to lifestyle choice.

I believe there are times when that rule can be broken and you can splurge. After this year, I think a dessert splurge at a summer cookout is in order. I’m OK with this for a few reasons:

1| I don’t eat like this every day. If this was my after-dinner choice every day, well, that’s problematic. But once in a while, totally fine and appropriate.

2| When you’re making a dessert for a crowd, not everyone has chosen to eat a healthy lifestyle . You want to pick a dessert that will appeal to the masses (even though I’m sure they’d love a healthier choice).

3| Let’s face it: healthy ingredients are expensive . It can be costly to make a dessert for a crowd with those healthy ingredients. That’s totally fine to do if you know your crew has eating restrictions or is really monitoring what they eat. But if that’s not really a priority for them, it’s fine to just buy your average-priced ingredients.

4| Sometimes there’s a cause for celebration! There are times to indulge and enjoy life and enjoy family and friends without obsessing over every bite that goes into your mouth. After the year we’ve had so far in 2020, this is definitely one of them.

Healthy Dessert Options

I still support healthy eating and even healthy desserts. For me and my family, that’s what I make on a regular basis. If you’d like to serve healthy desserts at your get-together or bring a healthy dessert to a cookout you’ve been invited to, here are 25+ healthy desserts that are easy and delicious . This is my go-to list, so feel free to choose a healthy option. You can also make some healthy dessert dips – here are 30 skinny versions!

But for now, take a look here and I know you’ll find something you love!
