Zach Braff and Donald Faison Will Make Pizza for Your Indiana Gay Wedding

Zach Braff and Donald Faison Will Make Pizza for Your Indiana Gay Wedding

Who better to trust with all of your wedding pizza needs than J.D. and Turk?

Indiana pizzeria Memories Pizza made some serious waves (and not in a good way) when the owners stated that if a gay couple wanted to get their wedding catered from Memories Pizza, they’d have to refuse the request because of their religious beliefs. Zach Braff and Donald Faison, better known as J.D. and Turk from the hit comedy “Scrubs,” will cater your gay pizza wedding.

This is pretty perfect, because J.D. and Turk’s epic bromance has enough homosexual undertones to fill an entirely separate TV show. We can only hope that Braff and Faison would make a giant pizza for the occasion surrounded by dozens of tiny pizza rolls (but remember to wait until they cool off before digging in).

Zach Braff will make pizza for gay couple’s wedding after restaurant refused them

A pizzeria in Indiana refused to provide pizza for a same-sex wedding, but all hope is not lost, thanks to Scrubs stars Zach Braff and Donald Faison.

J ust like the bakery in Northern Ireland that declined to bake the wedding cake for a gay couple, Memories Pizza in Walkerton, Indiana caused a massive controversy when they refused to cater for a same-sex wedding reception.

After the pizza place hit the headlines, two of America’s most popular sitcom alums offered to save the day.

Scrubs actors Braff and Faison are offering to flip some dough for the couple - and anyone else who is interested for that matter.

In wake of the controversy, the proprietors of Memories Pizza claimed they were forced to close their business as they were targeted with threats and harassment.

Soon after, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to support the owners, and raised over €775,000.

Braff and Faison are not the only high profile people to stand up and show solidarity for the LGBT community - singer Cyndi Lauper has also pledged her support.

The musician hosted a fundraiser titled #PizzaForEquality, raising €35,000 for homeless LGBT youths.

Zach Braff And Donald Faison Will Cater Your Gay Wedding In Indiana

We all know how Ron Swanson and Leslie Knope would’ve reacted to Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act. But what about Dr. John Dorian and Dr. Turk Turkleton? Former Scrubs stars, Zach Braff and Donald Faison are offering to do their part to help those gay Indiana residents in need…of having pizza served at their weddings.

Braff posted this image to Twitter of him and best bud Faison stone cold kickin’ it in a speed boat. Their response to the controversy surrounding Memories Pizza’s stance on marriage equality is clear and simple. Not only will they bring your gay wedding a pizza, they’ll make it for you!

I’m not sure how prevalent pizzas are at gay weddings but, you know, that’s another issue altogether.

Zach Braff and Donald Faison Will Make Pizza for Your Indiana Gay Wedding - Recipes

Zach Braff and his former “Scrubs” co-star Donald Faison have joined the national campaign to punish the State of Indiana for its controversial new religious freedom law. The two plan to make pizzas for gay weddings held in the state.

After playing best friends and roommates for seven seasons on Scrubs, Braff and Faison became best buds in real life too.

Indiana claims that the law – which is already being amended due to the outrage — was intended to protect religious freedom, but most people see it as an attempt to allow for discrimination against gays.

Braff has tweeted, “If you really and truly want pizza for your gay wedding in Indiana… We will make it for you, ” together with a picture of himself and Faison riding a motor boat somewhere.

The two actors made the announcement in response to one from an Indiana restaurant called Memories Pizza in which its proprietors proclaimed that they would never provide services for gay weddings.

In the holiday spirit Braff also tweeted last Friday, “Happy Passover. Happy Good Friday. Happy Everything.” And, “Whatever you celebrate, have a happy it. #Easter #Passover #Zayn.”

In a related story, all of us here at Jewish Business News would like to wish the actor/director a happy 40th birthday. Braff tweeted, “In Europe I’m 40.”

Zach Braff and Donald Faison Vow to Provide Pizza for Indiana Gay Weddings

The rights of gay couples in Indiana may be in jeopardy, but their ability to enjoy pizza at their weddings is not. Access to the perennially popular fare has been promised to gay couples throughout the great state by a rather unlikely source: two Hollywood actors. BFFs and Scrubs co-stars Zach Braff and Donald Faison have declared their commitment to making sure same-sex couples tying the knot can enjoy buttery garlic knots on their big day.

If you really and truly want pizza for your gay wedding in Indiana. We will make it for you. @donald_faison pic.twitter.com/y91qIkVoyt

— Zach Braff (@zachbraff) April 3, 2015

The tweet clearly struck a chord and has since been retweeted more than 8,000 times.

Braff and Faison's show of solidarity with the gay community comes in response to Memories Pizza's announcement last week that they would refuse to provide pizza for same-sex weddings, citing their rights under the state's Religious Freedom Restoration Act (that's the legislation touted by Indiana's governor, Mike Pence, which prohibits state and local laws that "substantially burden" the ability of people and businesses to follow their religious beliefs).

Naturally, many fear this is setting a precedent that will allow establishments to refuse to serve gay people — pretty much exactly like the owners of Memories Pizza have done. And it already appears that battle lines over this new legislation are being drawn.

After making their announcement, the owners of the Walkerton, Indiana, pizza joint claimed they became the targets of threats and harassment that became so bad they were forced to temporarily shutter the restaurant. Still, they garnered quite a bit of support. Shortly after this whole "no pizza for gay weddings" declaration was made, a GoFundMe campaign was launched to help out the owners. In five days, 30 contributors raised almost $843,000. That will buy you more than a few deep-dish pies.

Still, no response has topped Braff and Faison's bromance-filled message of commitment to the gay community. Now all we need is a happy couple to take them up on their generous offer!

The aircraft has not been located, but Tennessee Highway Patrol told News Channel 5 that officers located debris consistent with a Cessna C501 and that a small plane had been seen descending into the water near a boat ramp early Saturday.Lara’s daughter, Elizabeth Hannah, sent a text message to members of the Remnant Fellowship Church saying that her mother and father were aboard the aircraft when it was forced to make a “quick, controlled landing.” All the plane’s passengers had ties to the church, including Hannah’s own husband Brandon, according to her text. The others aboard were David and Jennifer Martin and Jonathan and Jessica Walters, according to authorities.“My brother and I are asking for immediate prayers right now, as we have just gotten word that Gwen and Joe Lara’s plane had to go down,” Hannah wrote before authorities said everyone appeared to have been killed. “More information to come, but be in prayer—and be at peace,” the message continued. “GOD IS IN CONTROL, and we will not stop moving forward with WHAT GOD WANTS with this church.”Read more at The Daily Beast.Get our top stories in your inbox every day. U.S. government seeks to dismiss suit against Trump, Washington Post says

The U.S. Justice Department on Friday asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed against former President Donald Trump, former Attorney General William Barr and other officials over the forceful pushing back of peaceful protesters at a White House demonstration last year, the Washington Post reported. The lawsuit was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union and other groups over the treatment of protesters at a demonstration against racism and police brutality on June 1, 2020, in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man, in Minneapolis after a white police officer knelt on his neck for more than nine minutes.

BFFs Zach Braff And Donald Faison Will Cater Your Gay Wedding

Equality for all Americans is no laughing matter, which is why we've been taking the recent controversy surrounding Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act very, very seriously. Still, we couldn't help but chuckle at this picture of former "Scrubs" co-stars and real life BFFs Zach Braff and Donald Faison.

Braff recently tweeted this image of himself and Faison on a boat with the heartfelt message, "If you really and truly want pizza for your gay wedding in Indiana. We will make it for you." Now, we just need a happy couple to take the boys up on their offer.

The duo are, of course, referring to the local Indiana eatery which released a statement saying they would not make pizza for a gay wedding. Because nothing says "til death do us part" like garlic knots wrapped in tin foil. But I guess that's beside the point.

So, what qualifies Braff and Faison to cater a wedding? Our guess is as good as yours. The dudes' expressions seem to really mean business, though.

Zach Braff & Donald Faison to the Rescue! Actors Say They'll Cater Your Gay Wedding in Indiana

Twitter

Longtime buds Zach Braff and Donald Faison have a solution…

In the wake of Indiana's Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which prompted a local pizzeria to proclaim that they wouldn't cater a gay wedding due to their own religious beliefs, the former Scrubs stars are coming to the rescue of anyone in need.

In a Twitpic posted earlier today, Braff shared a shot of the two besties posing and wrote, "If you really and truly want pizza for your gay wedding in Indiana…We will make it for you."

Now there's a wedding meal that's bound to make memories!

Shortly after the bill passed earlier this week, Memories Pizza found itself at the center of the controversy after its owners told reporters that they wouldn't cater to a gay wedding.

Shortly thereafter, the restaurant's Yelp page received hundreds of scathing messages as well as explicit gay images.

Due to the uproar, owners opted to shut down the eatery temporarily.

Then Lawrence B. Jones III, a contributor for the conservative website The Blaze, began a fundraising campaign to get the pizzeria back up and running.

As of Friday afternoon, in just a few days' time, the page was able to raise over $800,000 dollars.

Scrubs stars offer to make pizza for Indiana same-sex weddings

Scrubs stars Zach Braff and Donald Faison have offered to provide pizza for same-sex weddings in Indiana – after a pizza shop declared it would not.

Earlier this week, the family who run Memories Pizza in Walkerton, Indiana pledged to deny service to same-sex weddings after Governor Mike Pence signed into law the controversial ‘Religious Freedom Restoration Act’, which gives people the right to discriminate against gay people on the grounds of religion.

Amid controversy surrounding the issue, the two actors – who played best friends JD and Turk on the medical sitcom – made an offer to gay couples in the state.

Braff tweeted: “If you really and truly want pizza for your gay wedding in Indiana… We will make it for you.”

However, he might struggle to find someone to take him up on his offer.

Out comedian Rosie O’Donnell joked earlier: “The pizza lady was saying that gays were going to cater their wedding with pizza.

“Not even lesbians would do that. We might have a potluck, we have bring your own chilli… but that’s only if financial situations are tough.”

Zach Braff and Donald Faison Graciously Offer To Make Pizzas For Indiana Gay Weddings

Memories Pizza, the world’s most famous bigoted pizza joint, is facing some steep competition in the form of former Scrubs actors Zach Braff and Donald Faison’s new wedding pizza service.

While the good-natured offer is a solid show of solidarity to the LGBT community, might we suggest the two pivot their effort toward donating to #Pizza4Equality, a new GoFundMe raising money to benefit Cyndi Lauper’s True Colors Fund.

They’re currently at $47K in an effort to match Memories’ $842K.

Zach Braff, who played JD in the hit show, tweeted that if a wedding in Indiana wanted pizza, they would provide it themselves – before he included his co-star Faison’s Twitter handle.

Braff and Faison are just two of many celebrities and businesses alike to condemn Indiana’s new ‘religious freedom’ law as a way of discriminating against LGBT people.

Miley Cyrus has been an outspoken advocate against the new law, while Rihanna condemned the bill at her concert in Indianapolis over the weekend.

Terminator star Arnold Schwarzenegger made a surprise move yesterday by writing an op-ed for the Washington Times avidly disagreeing with the bill, saying there are more important problems in the world to solve.

Scrubs included a running gag that JD and Turk (Faison) had a bromance that would rival that of any romantic relationship they had.
